Together with my good friend and colleague John C. Hulsman, I recently wrote an article about what we believe are the hard lessons from the Arab Spring. ‘Revolution 2.0’ has been exposed for the ahistorical nonsense that it is, and, as we argue in this piece, “the vital lesson to be learned is that there are indeed Iron Laws of Revolution that largely determine an insurrection’s chances for success or failure. And they do not change because you have learned how to tweet.”
